About the role
This role supports the CCAT organization within Schwab Technology Services (STS), enabling the future of how clients manage their money through innovative technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support highly available applications that deliver measurable business and client impact.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, product partners, and business stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges, influence solution design decisions, and deliver scalable solutions that improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Translate business needs into technical solutions, make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment, and continuously improve engineering practices through automation, cloud technologies, and continuous delivery.
- Contribute to the development of distributed applications, APIs, event-driven solutions, and cloud-aligned services that support critical business capabilities across the firm.
- Leverage data-driven problem solving, continuously learn emerging technologies, and help drive innovation through modern development practices, AI-assisted engineering tools, and engineering productivity solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering with Java, Spring Framework, and RESTful API development.
- 2+ years of experience working with relational or distributed databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Yugabyte.
- 2+ years of experience utilizing source control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery tools such as Git, Bitbucket, or Bamboo.
- 2+ years of experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies to improve software development efficiency while maintaining code quality and engineering standards.
- Experience working in Agile environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise applications across the software development lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience developing event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging technologies.
- 1+ year of experience supporting real-time data processing or streaming applications.
- Experience with batch processing, data pipelines, Spring Batch, or PySpark.
- Proven ability to independently own and deliver features from design through production deployment.
- Experience participating in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions.
- Strong focus on software quality, test automation, and production reliability.
- Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning and technology innovation.
