Java Developer - Remote

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Windchill Java Developer to join our dynamic team remotely within the continental United States. This is a full-time, in-house engagement with Bright Vision Technologies, focusing on deep customization and extension of the Windchill platform using Java, PTC APIs, and related frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working closely with Windchill internals, developing custom services, listeners, processors, and UI extensions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and operations, to translate complex requirements into robust, upgrade-friendly solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Five or more years of Java development experience, with a focus on Windchill customization
• Deep, hands-on experience with the Windchill Java API and customization frameworks
• Solid understanding of Windchill data model, lifecycle, and workflow internals
• Strong Java object-oriented design and performance optimization skills
• Experience with JSP, HTML, and Windchill client-side customization
• Hands-on experience with Type and Attribute Management (TAM)
• Strong SQL skills, with familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server
• Experience supporting Windchill upgrades and migrations
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced Java customizations within Windchill, including custom services, listeners, processors, validators, and helpers
• Extend the Windchill data model with custom types, attributes, and relationships using TAM
• Build custom JSP and HTML extensions, including custom tables, actions, and wizard pages
• Develop custom queues and background processes for asynchronous Windchill tasks
• Implement complex workflow expressions and robot delegates in Java, ensuring durability and maintainability
• Optimize the performance of Java customizations through profiling, query tuning, and caching strategies
• Adhere to PTC customization best practices to ensure upgrade-friendly modifications
• Lead migration efforts to replace legacy customizations with modern, supported patterns, ensuring reversibility and minimal disruption
• Conduct thorough code reviews and uphold internal engineering standards
• Collaborate with functional consultants to translate requirements into effective Java solutions
• Provide post-go-live support, troubleshooting incidents, and implementing durable fixes
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design decisions, and operational procedures
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth within the team
