Java Developer (core)
About the role
This role involves the hands-on development and maintenance of Java-based Compliance and Surveillance applications. The position will focus on designing, enhancing, and supporting systems that enable regulatory surveillance and monitoring. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to Compliance Technology initiatives, supporting mission-critical surveillance systems and collaborating with global teams across technology, compliance, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on development and maintenance of Java-based Compliance and Surveillance applications.
- Design, enhance, and support systems for regulatory surveillance and monitoring.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues using internal tools and frameworks.
- Support release coordination, production readiness, and deployment activities.
- Maintain and enhance existing platforms to meet evolving regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Create and maintain high-level and low-level technical documentation.
- Translate business and compliance requirements into well-defined technical solutions.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on Core Java development experience.
- 3+ years of experience with Oracle SQL, Unix/Linux shell scripting, and Autosys job scheduling.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, production support, and release management.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Spring Framework and Java front-end technologies.
- Experience with Java application servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, or Tomcat.
- Proficiency with Maven, Git, and Bitbucket.
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Compliance, Regulatory, or Trade Surveillance systems.
- Exposure to financial services or capital markets technology.
- Experience supporting production systems in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with audit response, regulatory change, and compliance-driven development.
