About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our team supporting a critical government contract in Arlington, VA. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable enterprise applications that meet stringent security and operational standards. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment, with two days per week onsite, although fully remote arrangements may be considered based on experience and project needs. The Java Developer will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and troubleshooting, ensuring that solutions adhere to customer specifications and industry best practices. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on meaningful projects within a dynamic team dedicated to government missions.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field, with at least five (5) years of professional experience.
  • Or nine (9) years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Java 11+.
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented analysis and design, including common design patterns.
  • Experience developing secure web applications using JEE8+ (Enterprise Java Beans 3+, CDI).
  • Proficiency in front-end web development with JSF/PrimeFaces.
  • Experience working with Java ORM technologies such as JPA2/Hibernate, SQL, and Oracle databases.
  • Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework 5+ and Spring MVC/Spring Web Flow.
  • Familiarity with JBoss EAP 7+ Web Application Server.
  • Experience with version control systems such as CVS and GIT.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development methodologies.
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation and obtain necessary clearances.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a DEA background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Design and develop secure, scalable web services for both internal and public use, ensuring compliance with security standards and customer requirements.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver software releases using both waterfall and Agile methodologies, maintaining version control and documentation standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production application operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and impact.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by researching new technologies and presenting architectural recommendations for review.
  • Ensure all development activities comply with security policies and customer specifications.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
