Java Backend Engineer

Position type: Full-time contract (6 months)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)

About the Role

Seeking a strong Java Backend Engineer to support API development and backend integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend Java services and APIs
• Build and support integrations across payment ecosystems including digital wallet platforms
• Build and maintain backend services using Kotlin, Java, and Eclipse
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and QA teams in an agile environment
• Write clean, scalable, and production-ready code
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Support modernization and enhancement initiatives across payment platforms

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Java backend development
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices
• Strong understanding of backend integration patterns
• Experience with Spring Boot and enterprise Java frameworks
• Strong problem-solving and coding skills
• Comfortable with live coding interviews and technical assessments

Preferred Skills

• Experience in digital payments or financial services
• Exposure to cloud and container technologies
• Experience working in agile development teams

Pay

Pay Range: $55 - $60 per hour. Pay offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, and certifications.
