Responsibilities

• Teach Japanese language concepts, including hiragana, katakana, kanji, grammar structures (particles, verb conjugations, honorific language/keigo), sentence patterns, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and cultural context.
• Explain Japanese sentence structure, counter words, and formal vs. informal registers while preparing students for JLPT examinations or academic coursework.
• Guide students in character recognition, writing practice, grammatical pattern application, and conversational fluency development.
• Support reading comprehension of Japanese texts, sentence construction, politeness levels, and cultural nuances in communication.
• Emphasize immersive practice and connect language learning to cultural topics, including business etiquette and media.
• Adapt instruction using spaced repetition for character study, authentic Japanese media, and conversational role-play to support learners from beginners to advanced students.
• Identify common student challenges (e.g., memorizing kanji, particle usage, formality levels) and tailor instruction to individual learning needs.
• Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring and accept on-demand tutoring requests when available.

Requirements

• Advanced mastery of Japanese, including deep knowledge of writing systems, grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context.
• Familiarity with Japanese language curricula and JLPT levels.
• Ability to explain concepts using multiple approaches and adapt to different learning styles.
• Strong communication skills and an engaging, friendly teaching style.
