Janitor

About the role

The Janitor is responsible for performing a variety of work to maintain cleanliness and standards for health, safety, and operational conditions in assigned areas.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Westlake Safety Policies
• Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
• Provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture
• Perform janitorial duties in restrooms, break rooms, and office areas
• Perform janitorial duties in operational areas such as production floor and shops
• Maintain waste receptacles and properly dispose of trash
• Keep grounds free of litter and perform grounds cleaning duties
• Perform upkeep maintenance such as painting and floor work
• Assist with minor projects that could include light construction work
• Operate janitorial equipment and basic hand tools

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is a plus
• Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude in basic construction
• Self-starter that can maintain a good balance between quantity and quality of work completed
• Janitorial experience is helpful

• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision (must be able to see and distinguish colors), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Ability to be exposed to temperature extremes inside or outside
• Work in constant noise above 85 decibels
