About the role

The Janitor role involves performing routine cleaning and sanitation tasks in a distribution center to maintain a safe, customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Performing routine cleaning and sanitation of the facility, including floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming floors throughout the distribution center.
• Emptying trash and recycling bins and transporting waste to disposal areas.
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, including restocking supplies.
• Maintaining cleanliness of warehouse racking, conveyor areas, and workstations.
• Performing minor building repairs and improvements as directed.
• Assisting with basic infrastructure upkeep and facility maintenance tasks.
• Supporting preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures.
• Tracking and restocking cleaning supplies and department inventory.
• Reporting safety hazards, facility damage, or equipment malfunctions to management.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the department and DC.
• Performing seasonal outdoor maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating cleaning equipment such as buffers, floor scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper handling, and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow safety regulations and facility protocols.
• Basic understanding of building maintenance and repair.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of janitorial or custodial experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or industrial environment.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload.
• Ability to work successfully with little supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors, and vendors.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance documentation and procedures.

Work Environment

This role requires repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking. The position involves lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
