About the role
As a Plumbing Technician, you will assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, fixtures, and appliances while ensuring high-quality service and customer rapport. The role involves complex calculations for large jobs, cost estimation, contract negotiation, and meeting sales targets with minimal callbacks.
Responsibilities
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances (e.g., dishwashers, water heaters), and fixtures (e.g., sinks, toilets) using hand or power tools.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or fittings using hand or power tools.
- Fill pipes or fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
- Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures.
- Perform complex calculations and planning for special or large jobs.
- Prepare written work cost estimates and negotiate contracts.
- Weld small pipes or special piping using specialized techniques, equipment, or materials (e.g., computer-assisted welding, microchip fabrication).
- Maintain customer rapport by addressing complaints, suggesting improvements, and obtaining referrals.
- Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records in SAWIN mobile and other required systems.
- Meet daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets with minimal callbacks.
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Alabama Journeyman Plumbing license required.
- Gas Fitting Card required.
- 4+ years of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check (random testing may occur).
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and at least 3 years of US driving experience.
Physical Requirements
- Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate hand and power-driven tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 100 pounds regularly.
- Ability to continually walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach in all directions.
- Ability to maintain balance while working off the ground using ladders, scaffolds, or mechanical lifts.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work in high, precarious places.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work outside, exposed to heat and cold.
- Ability to see and read with or without vision aids (e.g., blueprints, drawings, specifications).
- Ability to hear and speak to exchange information.

Pay
$65,000 - $80,000 per year + incentive bonus.
