Responsibilities
- Inspects and tests and maintains electrical lighting, signal, communication and power distribution circuits and equipment.
- Isolates equipment and component failures in switches, motors, control panels and a variety of electrical equipment, using electrical test equipment.
- Performs layout work for electrical maintenance and construction operations.
- Installs new panel boxes, circuits and feeder lines to meet load conditions.
- Performs necessary electrical maintenance work on elevators, hoists, conveyors, electric motors and lighting systems.
- Performs complex wiring, installation and trouble shooting on motors, generators, switches, transformers, electric clocks and time systems, intercom systems, paging systems, fuse panels, alarm and signal systems, heating appliances, electric ovens, and similar kinds of specialized electrical devices.
- Replaces or exchanges defective mechanical components such as small motor gears and bearings and electrical parts such as brushes, armatures, resistors, switches, transformers, etc., according to electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams.
- Works from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and from verbal instructions.
- Performs other related duties requiring comparable level of knowledge, skill and responsibility, as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational training.
- Able to read and write English, make mathematical calculations, understand and use blueprints, wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and regulations.
- Completion of approved apprenticeship program in the Electrical Trade or equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
- Experience should total a minimum of 5-6 years including apprenticeship time.
