IUOE Air Cond & Refrig Mech B

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and examinations of less complicated components to detect mechanical or electrical failures.
• Changes filters, cleans units, and performs other routine maintenance.
• Disassembles related equipment to note condition and make necessary repairs or replacements.
• Checks electrical, electronic, and pneumatic controls and assists in making adjustments, repairs, or replacements.
• Pumps down and charges units with appropriate refrigerants.
• Assists in equipment installation according to blueprints, sketches, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Assists in testing and balancing air and chilled/hot water systems.
• Keeps records and makes reports of daily work, emergency/service calls investigated, service rendered, results of troubleshooting, and general condition of equipment and systems.
• Makes recommendations for modifications.
• Assists in reviewing controls and control systems for proper operation, sequencing, and optimum efficiency and recommends changes to achieve optimum operations.
• Adheres to all University, Departmental, and OSHA safety policies, practices, and requirements.
• Performs other related duties, including the maintenance of tools.

Qualifications

• High School education and 1 year of experience as a building heating, ventilating, cooling and controls mechanics.
• The ability to read and write the English language.
• EPA Refrigerant Certification required.
