About the role
The IT Infrastructure Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to shape information and technology solutions that support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. You will be a key member of the manufacturing network organization, helping to deliver globally harmonized IT and automation solutions across a global production technology network. In this role, you will own the local manufacturing infrastructure and serve as the primary contact for global IT teams that deliver and operate shared infrastructure services. Partnering closely with the manufacturing site, you will focus on supporting production activities (Make, Assess, Release) in line with site priorities and project-driven demand.
Responsibilities
- Manage IT infrastructure for manufacturing system platforms, including IMS, MES, DCS, SCADA, and other control and automation systems.
- Cook up site IT infrastructure support with global infrastructure teams, including support of Active Directory and firewall policies to ensure proper access and secure communication.
- Lead and support the evaluation, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing infrastructure, including installation and upgrades of control systems hardware and software, control networks, user administration, database administration, security, system monitoring, backup, and recovery of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and SQL databases.
- Implement robust disaster recovery solutions for manufacturing and control system environments.
- Lead and support the implementation of IT infrastructure standards and best practices across all site IT and process automation platforms, collaborating with process automation engineers and IT professionals.
- Serve as the primary infrastructure expert at the site, bridging the gap between automation systems and the underlying storage, compute, and network infrastructure.
- Execute control system virtualization, including administration, user management, system monitoring, capacity planning, design, installation, configuration, and platform upgrades.
- Support commissioning and startup activities for new process control and manufacturing systems, including transitions from Syncade to PharmaSuite, and implementation of DeltaV, OSI PI historian, and related platforms.
- Support integration of edge computing and IIoT gateways to enable real-time data flow to the OSI PI historian and cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Partner with the cyber security engineer to implement Zero Trust architectures and robust security measures across manufacturing infrastructure.
- Support data backup and recovery management, and contribute to disaster recovery planning and exercises for manufacturing systems.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve ServiceNow incident tickets, requests, and problems related to manufacturing infrastructure.
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex infrastructure issues and implement effective solutions.
- Produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to support infrastructure operations and projects.

- Strong understanding and experience with manufacturing infrastructure, security management, automation and control systems, and data backup technologies.
- Experience working in a change control environment, including computer systems validation and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) documentation.
- Experience as a system administrator with various operating systems, storage, backup solutions, application and infrastructure monitoring, virtualization, LAN/WAN, firewalls, relational database management systems (RDBMS), client-server architectures, and terminal virtualization.
- Advanced expertise in VMware or Nutanix for managing virtualized control system workloads.
- Experience with composable infrastructure solutions and modern endpoint protection technologies such as next-generation antivirus and EDR/XDR.
- Experience with high availability (HA), failover clustering, and redundancy for critical systems.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server installation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
