About the role

The Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner (PA, NP) position at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) serves nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. Located in Bethel, the regional hub and home to the only hospital in the region, YKHC provides a broad range of employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary (acute, chronic and preventive) health care and emergency care to patients seeking services at the village clinic.
• Serves YKHC loyally, diligently, and effectively, promoting the success of the organization.
• Engages in outreach health care activities, including village trips and radio medical traffic.
• Participates in village clinic-based patient care, assisting and advising YKHC programs in areas of PA, NP expertise.
• Contributes to the training of PA, NP students through clinical rotations at the YKDRH.

Requirements

• Completed an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Training Program and received and maintained certification.
• Two years minimum suggested experience level.
• Experience with reading radiographs and dispensing medication.
• Alaska License and DEA license, along with National Certification.
• Computer skills necessary to access computerized medical records.
• Skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of their specialty.
• Ability to supervise and mentor NP and PA students, and oversee community Health Aide clinical practice.

Physical Demands

Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.), often standing and walking to assist patients.
