Itinerant Occupational Therapist

THE POSITION

The Occupational Therapist shall report directly to the Executive Director of Special Education Innovation. They serve in an itinerant capacity across Alameda County School Districts and schools, based on assigned caseload and student needs. This position requires travel between multiple sites throughout the workweek. Caseload service locations are subject to change based on enrollment and programmatic need. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with organizational policy for required travel between assigned sites.

TYPICAL DUTIES

• Provides occupational therapy services to students with exceptional needs across school districts served by the Alameda County Office of Education in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Affirms and evaluates students’ functional abilities related to educational participation, including fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, visual-motor integration, and adaptive functioning.
• Participates in Student Study Team (SST) and IEP meetings; provides input regarding eligibility, services, goals, and placement.
• Develops occupational therapy goals and objectives and implements individual and group interventions aligned with IEPs.
• Monitors and documents student progress; recommends modifications to services and IEP goals as appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Occupational Therapist license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy required.
• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) preferred.
• Experience: Five (5) years of work-related experience. Experience working in a school district is preferred.

LOCATION

Primarily New Haven USD, San Leandro USD, Alameda USD and Emery USD. (May include other districts in Alameda County as needed.)
