IT - Technical Engineer - OM Ships

About the Role

Responsible for all IT infrastructures (networks (LAN, WAN), servers, system software and tools, etc.) for OM Ships (Mosbach, Ships, Florence, remote users, etc.) to enable OMSI to efficiently and effectively operate its IT tools.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure

• Identify, propose, and implement all modifications, changes, or new designs for the infrastructure.

Security

• Play a significant role in designing and implementing security systems to ensure IT systems are safe.
• Audit security systems against agreed plans and policies.
• Monitor logs and systems for signs of breaches or non-compliance.
• Stay current on potential security risks from external parties and ensure the most recent security protection is available.
• Promote a ‘security first’ mindset in new systems implementations.

Business Continuity

• Establish and execute a Business Continuity Plan (BCP), including redundancy, UPS, and backup/recovery to ensure business continuity of IT systems.
• Create, update, and audit the BCP.

Hardware/Software

• Direct the analysis, selection, and ongoing maintenance of all hardware and system software components and tools to achieve the ICT strategy.
• Manage and coordinate support for technical hardware and system software problems.
• Approve the technology and technical environment for proposed applications.
• Ensure technology is supportable, trainable, and maintainable over its expected duration of use.
• Maintain technical documentation for current systems.

Ministry Involvement

• Actively participate in team life at your location to minister to others and be ministered to.
• Regularly participate in team devotions, prayer times, meetings, and social functions.
• Serve practically within the team to share the workload.
• Encourage fellow team members.

Compensation - Support Base Development

• Actively develop and maintain a prayer and financial support base for your ministry with OM Ships International.
• Maintain regular contact with prayer partners, financial supporters, and sending church(es).
• Develop your prayer and financial support base continually by inviting individuals, groups, and churches to join your support team.

Safe Working Practices

• Ensure work is carried out in accordance with internal and external safety, environmental, and legal regulations.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
• Ensure safe and correct usage and adequate maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Follow verbal and written safety and environmental regulations, and understand risks and risk assessments related to your role.
• Be aware of relevant International Safety Management Code (ISM) requirements, including annual reviews of ISM and International Ship & Port Security Code (ISPS) systems.
