IT Specialist II
About the role
Responsible for assisting the IT Services Manager in maintaining the in-house computer system and Credit Union's network of personal computers. Essential Duties/Responsibilities include providing coverage and technical support for Corporate and Branch users, developing and maintaining scripts and programs, performing system administrator functions, identifying, resolving, and documenting computer-related problems, performing daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping and equipment maintenance, configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PCs, network printers, multi-function devices, and other computer peripheral equipment, remaining current on present and new technologies, providing guidance and training to technicians, performing preventive maintenance procedures, preparing standardized reports, assisting supporting employees in the use of personal computers and software, assisting in the installation of computer program patches, releases, and fixes, assisting Credit Union staff in using the computer system, assisting the I.T. staff in the installation of PCs/peripherals, serving as primary maintainer of one major Credit Union computer systems, researching, planning, and overseeing implementation on three IT projects, as lead IT member.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide coverage and technical support for Corporate and Branch users as directed by IT Services Manager.
- Develop and maintain scripts and programs that automate repetitive tasks and data transfer in the IT Department.
- Perform system administrator functions on credit union servers.
- Identify, resolve, and document all computer-related problems that may occur during the operator's operational shift.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping and equipment maintenance as needed or scheduled by the IT Services Manager.
- Configure, install, troubleshoot, and maintain PCs, network printers, multi-function devices, and other computer peripheral equipment.
- Remain current on present and new technologies as well as research, recommend, and apply new technologies as they emerge.
- Provide guidance and training to technicians as directed.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures for computers as instructed.
- Prepare standardized reports as directed.
- Assist supporting employees in the use of personal computers and software, in a timely manner and with little assistance.
- Assist in the installation of computer program patches, releases, and fixes as directed/scheduled by the IT Services Manager.
- Assist Credit Union staff in using the computer system.
- Assist the I.T. staff in the installation of PCs/peripherals.
- Serve as primary maintainer of one major Credit Union computer systems.
- Research, plan, and oversee implementation on three IT projects, as lead IT member.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by IT Services Manager.
Job Knowledge
Working knowledge of Credit Union's in-house computer system. Working knowledge of organization's policies/procedures and Credit Union's service philosophy. Working knowledge of Credit Union's personal computers, networks, and accompanying software. Working knowledge of MS Office software products.

Job Qualifications (Education/Experience/Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Ability)
- IT Specialist I: Requires a two-year college level of language, math, and reasoning skills. One to three years of experience in a related field with equal responsibilities is acceptable. Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education. Thorough knowledge and understanding of personal computer software, MS Windows operating systems.
- IT Specialist II: Meets all requirements for an IT Specialist I. Three to five years’ experience in a related field with equal responsibilities is acceptable, preferably in the help desk environment. Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education.
- Senior IT Specialist: Meets all requirements for an IT Specialist II. Five or more years of experience in a related field with equal responsibilities is acceptable. CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent certification is preferred. Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education.

Able to research and determine root causes of complex issues.
