Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop IT solutions aligning business goals with technology, ensuring alignment with District strategic plans.
• Document and maintain reference architectures, roadmaps, and best practices for IT solutions.
• Design and document the District’s cyber security architecture, systems, and services, aligning with industry best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with IT Solutions Architects and teams to implement and integrate solutions compatible with the District’s IT enterprise, enabling automated monitoring, configuration, and management.
• Propose and develop plans to integrate on-premise and cloud-based solutions.
• Identify and synthesize components required for solution success.
• Incorporate cloud technology architecture into data system architecture.
• Architect data lakes to expand data capture and maintain accessible historical data through proper data governance.
• Coordinate and lead architectural planning committees or centers of excellence (e.g., cloud center of excellence, data architecture task force, cyber security review board).
• Serve as a District expert and advisor on architecture and emerging technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI, automation, machine learning).
• Architect cloud infrastructure solutions for storage, computing, and application hosting.
• Define, design, document, and enforce standards, practices, and guidelines for solution development and integration (e.g., data governance, application standards, security compliance).
• Oversee end-to-end implementation of IT solutions, providing guidance throughout the project lifecycle to ensure technical integrity and performance.
• Recommend platforms, tools, and frameworks for application development to optimize performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Assess existing architectures to recommend improvements and bridge gaps.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with new architectural solutions or improvements.
• May lead or supervise a team of technical personnel.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university, preferably in electrical engineering, mathematics, computer science, data science, cybersecurity, or a related field. Substitution: Qualifying experience may replace education on a year-for-year basis if high school graduation or equivalent is met. An advanced degree in systems management, engineering, or computer science is preferable.

Experience:

• Collaboration Emphasis: Five years of experience in an enterprise-wide environment designing, implementing, and supporting multi-cluster collaboration systems with more than 60,000 endpoints, including collaboration platform architecture management, maintenance, and governance.

Special Notes: A valid California driver’s license and the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle (or alternative transportation) is required.

Qualifications

Selective Certifications (Collaboration Emphasis): One of the following certifications or equivalent/higher is required:
