What You Can Expect
In this role as the Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for collaboratively defining a vision for the systems and processes that support each functional team, leading the design of the future-state solution, and hands-on supporting the development, migration and integration of those solutions into our business.
- Maintain understanding of our business goals and strategy for ENGIE Resources, ENGIE North America, and ENGIE Group by connecting with business and IT stakeholders on a regular basis to communicate ideas and understand their needs
- Act as a thought leader on the innovative use of technology as it applies to the needs of our business
- Identify opportunities to unlock value implementing new solutions or rethinking those we already have
- Stay connected to developments and trends in the retail energy industry and in the technology world and disseminate knowledge to other team members through formal and informal methods
- Lead the development of product roadmaps by partnering with team members in each functional area and creating a vision for the future of their team’s systems and processes
- Devise complete solutions for a business need, including structural, business process, security and technology changes
- Create and present comparative analysis of solution options, outline the pros and cons of each, and make recommendations on the optimal path forward
- Assist in prioritizing investments and efforts across the portfolio of product backlogs
- Support project teams on as-needed basis to provide technical Quality Assurance and guidance on design concepts, and debugging
- Coach project teams on solution design, patterns and practices, and delivery methods (Agile, DevOps, TDD, etc.)
- Analyze and redesign business processes to achieve their optimal state
- Build financial models used to justify capital investment in technology projects
- Provide leadership for systems development team and liaise with technology partners
- Serve as a member of the Architecture Review Council where you will review technical architectures proposed by project teams and provide quality assurance
- Collaborate with ENGIE NA Enterprise Architecture team to align on company-wide initiatives
- Be a champion of culture within the IT team consisting of adaptability, innovative thinking, a problem-solving mentality, and a thirst for learning
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS curriculum, MBA Preferred
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience with technical architecture and systems implementation
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience with:
- Microsoft Azure and cloud-based systems architecture concepts
- Business process engineering using Lean
- Agile concepts and practices
- DevOps processes and tools
- Basic understanding of Azure networking/security
- Experience with ETL pipelines, Data Lakes and or Data Warehouse architecture
- Ability to set up and deploy code with CI/CD Pipelines
- Event Driven Architecture
- Experience with Okta and/or authorization providers
- Experience integrating with SaaS solutions in enterprise settings
- Deep knowledge of common design patterns
- Financial modeling and business case development using Excel
- Modeling tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, (Mermaid or PlantUML is a plus)
- AWS and Databricks is a big plus
- Experience with SAS and/or ITRON Metrix IDR solutions a big plus
- Active involvement in the technology community
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style
- Experience working in consulting and/or translating business requirements into technical requirements
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for technology
- Ability to quickly work into new tasks and accommodate with new circumstances in a dynamic environment
- Be seen as an expert, and respected by peers, clients, and within industry
