About the Program
Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D Internship Program aims to provide a fun, interesting, and real-world environment for interns to Learn about the industry, be Educated by Sr. Leadership and peers, Achieve personal goals, and Develop skills and knowledge. The program includes shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects, and corporate outings. Interns are treated as full-time Partners, working 40 hours per week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and are based at headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.
About the Role
IT Security Intern is an entry-level position designed to provide professional experience aligned with innate problem-solving ability and technical skills. The role involves assessment, vulnerability testing, and risk analysis under the supervision of the IT Security Staff. Interns will assist with incident management, security-related incidents, change management, and request fulfillment.
Responsibilities
- Assist security experts in identifying, investigating, and mitigating vulnerabilities against the company and user base.
- Document investigative strategies and findings in case notes.
- Help improve security enforcement through educational sessions and training.
- Respond to and investigate assigned incidents to ensure timely resolution in accordance with service levels.
- Provide assistance to partners regarding security events.
- Work with MS and other productivity tools to improve security posture.
- Monitor suspicious traffic, SIEM alerts, and conduct smaller investigations.
Requirements
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated active listening ability.
- Ability to lead tasks or objectives and work in a team setting.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and reliability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Accountability for task completion without direct supervision.
- Proficiency in programming languages: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, Linux, and networking essentials.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing.
