Responsible for purchasing new computer and other information technology equipment by coordinating requests, researching, and completing orders.
Responsibilities
- Procure Information Technology Hardware, Software, Software as a Service, IT maintenance and licensing, and IT Professional Services.
- Research new technology purchases and evaluate the performance of those technologies to support management purchasing decisions.
- Work within the IT Service Management tool and University Procurement System to complete purchase orders by selecting vendors, negotiating price and payment terms, arranging product delivery, and resolving delivery problems.
- Review and process IT purchase requests and payments within the IT Service Management Tool and University Procurement System by verifying requested purchases, vendor bills, purchase orders, and received items; resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain historical records of equipment by documenting items and services purchased, prices, delivery, and product or service acceptability.
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- 4 years of relevant experience, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
Skills
- Knowledge of current technology.
- Ability to troubleshoot and test computer hardware.
- Ability to build and assemble parts.
- Ability to integrate peripheral equipment into hardware solutions.
- Knowledge of customer service techniques.
- Ability to consult with users about hardware solutions.
Physical Requirements
- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials.
- Able to speak clearly in conversation and general communication.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting.
- Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment
- Work is indoors and sedentary, subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
- No harmful environmental conditions present.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- This is an in-person, on-campus role.
