IT Project Manager

About the role
The IT Project Manager plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources, coordinating team members and third-party contractors, defining project objectives, and overseeing quality control throughout the project lifecycle. The role supports project frameworks for implementing change, delivering project deliverables, and monitoring scope, costs, and schedule.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and manage major project milestones, tasks, activities, and resources throughout the project lifecycle (initiating, planning, executing, closing).
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Analyze project risks, establish contingency plans, and identify trigger events for mitigating actions.
- Estimate project level of effort, costs, and timelines; re-forecast as needed and seek approval for changes.
- Maintain a strategic view of project objectives and deliverables; identify and manage dependencies and critical path.
- Provide status reporting to senior leadership and develop progress reports, proposals, and requirements documentation.
- Define project success criteria and communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders.

- Build, develop, and maintain relationships with project stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate relevant project information to stakeholders and teams.
- Ensure adherence to Corporate and PMO standards.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and contractors to drive accountability.
- Provide guidance and encourage proactive skill development for project team members.
- Provide effective feedback throughout the performance management cycle.
- Source and collect contract performance data; monitor performance against KPIs.
- Identify and report under-performance; develop opportunities for improvement.
- Manage deliverables outlined in Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Review business cases and determine appropriate procurement routes.
- Monitor and report on supplier performance, information security, customer satisfaction, and market intelligence.
- Investigate, resolve, or escalate problems; determine where change is required.
- Build long-term, strategic relationships with senior business and IT stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact and facilitate access to subject matter experts.
- Communicate technical, Shared Services, and third-party issues to senior leadership.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate project activities from contract/proposal initiation to final operational stage, including transition to business-as-usual.
- Ensure projects realize business benefits using best practices and functional/technical standards.
- Lead, coach, and manage project stakeholders and teams.
- Foster a collaborative project team culture valuing transparency and skill development.
- Set performance targets and monitor progress against quality and performance criteria.
- Allocate project resources to support initiatives and responsibilities.
- Oversee and measure fulfillment of contractual obligations using KPIs.
- Develop strategies to address under-performance and compliance failures.
- Identify where changes are required, evaluate impact, and advise stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts and seek appropriate authorization.
- Research suppliers and markets; maintain understanding of the commercial environment.
- Advise on business cases for alternative sourcing models and procurement policies.
- Negotiate with potential partners and suppliers; develop acceptance criteria and procedures.
- Implement compliant procurement processes considering commissioning and supplier imperatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree.
- 3+ years’ experience managing and leading IT projects.
- 3+ years’ experience with SDLC, PMLC, Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
- Strong experience as a Project Manager for medium to large complex projects (e.g., new system implementations, upgrades, or enhancements, including cloud-based, system, and infrastructure projects).
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Visio) and collaboration tools such as SharePoint or Project Management systems.
- Strong collaboration, influencing, and listening skills.
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Work in-office 3 days per week; additional days may vary by Division/Department.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Flexibility during change and ability to read communication styles across disciplines.
- Strong interpersonal skills; persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
- Ability to defuse tension and provide excellent customer service.

- Preferred: Project Management Certification (PMP in good standing).
- Preferred: Agile practice certification (CSM or comparable in good standing).
- Preferred: Experience using PPM solutions or Azure DevOps/Jira.
- Preferred: Building or Construction industry experience.
