About the role

This position oversees the agile delivery for the IT organization's project portfolio, with primary emphasis on Business Intelligence development initiatives, Salesforce deployment projects, and general Large IT Infrastructure projects. This role facilitates agile ceremonies, removes delivery obstacles, and coaches cross-functional teams to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule. The Scrum Master works closely with the Director of Infrastructure, Director of Business Intelligence, and ERP Director to align sprint execution with infrastructure dependencies, data/analytics roadmaps, and enterprise system priorities, ensuring that agile practices are applied consistently and effectively across IT project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Agile Facilitation & Delivery
    • Plan and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, for BI development and Salesforce deployment teams.
    • Own and maintain sprint backlogs, burndown charts, and velocity metrics; ensure work is properly sized, sequenced, and tracked in the team's agile tooling (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
    • Champion adoption of continuous integration (CI) practices, and Work-In-Progress (WIP) limits to drive delivery consistency and quality.
    • Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of impediments, risks, and blockers that threaten sprint or release commitments.
    • Partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy, well-groomed backlog and ensure user stories meet the definition of ready before sprint entry.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Coordinate with the Director of Business Intelligence to align sprint priorities with the BI development roadmap, data pipeline dependencies, and reporting deliverables.
    • Coordinate with the ERP Director on Salesforce deployment sequencing, integration touchpoints, and release windows that intersect with core ERP processes.
    • Work with the Director of Infrastructure to ensure environment availability, deployment windows, and technical dependencies are planned into sprint and release schedules.
    • Serve as a communication bridge between delivery teams and the CIO, providing clear, timely status updates on project health, risks, and delivery timelines.
  • Agile Coaching & Continuous Improvement
    • Coach team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on agile principles, Scrum framework mechanics, and self-organizing team behaviors.
    • Champion continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives that produce actionable process changes and tracking follow-through.
    • Apply Scrum/Kanban (Scrumban) techniques and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices where they improve team clarity, workflow visibility, and delivery quality.
    • Promote agile best practices consistently across BI and Salesforce project teams, adapting ceremonies and artifacts to team maturity where appropriate.
    • Support release planning and roadmap sequencing in collaboration with Product Owners and IT leadership.
  • Reporting & Governance
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date project dashboards and status reporting for the CIO and IT leadership team.
    • Track sprint and release metrics (velocity, cycle time, defect rates) and surface trends that inform delivery planning.
    • Ensure project documentation, decisions, and change requests are captured and accessible to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master or Agile Project Manager on software development or enterprise systems projects.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating agile delivery for data/analytics (BI) projects and/or Salesforce implementation or deployment projects.
  • Hands-on proficiency with agile project management tooling (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally), including experience building dashboards and reporting frameworks to track team metrics.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or transportation/logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce release management and deployment practices (e.g., sandboxes, change sets, CI/CD for Salesforce).
  • Working knowledge of BI/analytics platforms and data pipeline concepts (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, ETL processes).
  • Exposure to ERP project delivery cycles and how they intersect with BI and CRM initiatives.
  • SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or other scaled-agile certification.
  • Experience establishing new agile teams, Centers of Excellence, or cross-team agile councils to scale best practices across an organization.
