Responsibilities
- Analyzes and supports IT cost recovery and chargeback models, including costs allocated to research programs, sponsored projects, and externally funded activities, using clearly defined and repeatable allocation methodologies.
- Produces recurring and ad hoc reports supporting grant proposals, post award analysis, and ongoing IT cost recovery tracking, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and appropriate documentation.
- Documents cost drivers, allocation methodologies, assumptions, and calculation logic used in ITFM cost models, maintaining well organized and audit ready supporting materials.
- Analyzes IT operating and capital expenditures to identify cost trends, drivers, and recovery opportunities across services and platforms.
- Performs variance analysis comparing budgeted and actual costs at the service, platform, and cost pool level, and summarize findings for non financial stakeholders.
- Buils, maintains, and enhances department cost models allocating costs across services, infrastructure components, and funding sources, ensuring models are transparent, explainable, and repeatable.
- Develops dashboards and reports presenting IT service costs, allocation outcomes, and recovery metrics for leadership and stakeholders, using business intelligence tools to support data driven decision making.
- Integrates and reconciles data from ITSM, asset management, HR, and financial systems to support accurate and traceable analysis, resolving data gaps, inconsistencies, or alignment issues as needed.
- Translates complex cost data into clear, non technical insights to support decision making related to service pricing, optimization, and resource planning.
- Supports audit readiness through well documented, consistent, and repeatable cost modeling and reporting methodologies, including adherence to established governance and documentation standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Four (4) years of experience in financial management, cost analysis, or service based costing within a technology, higher education, or service oriented organization, including responsibility for developing cost models, performing analysis, and preparing reports to support operational and strategic decision making.
Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Certified Technology Business Management (TBM), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), CompTIA ITF+, or Microsoft Power BI certifications, or comparable certifications aligned with IT financial analysis and reporting.
Skills
- Able to analyze complex datasets and build transparent, explainable financial and cost allocation models, including variance analysis, trend analysis and multi-dimensional cost modeling across services, platforms, and funding sources.
- Demonstrated ability to support internal stakeholders in a consultative and service oriented manner.
- Able to collaborate effectively with IT leaders, service owners, research partners, and finance stakeholders, and to translate complex technical or financial information into clear, non technical insights to support decision making.
- Knowledge of IT Financial Management (ITFM), service based costing, chargeback, showback, and cost recovery practices, including the use of well-documented and auditable cost allocation methods across multiple IT funding sources.
- Familiarity with IT service management concepts, asset management data, and workforce or labor cost attribution, including integration and reconciliation of data from ITSM, assets, HR, and financial systems.
