About the Role
Support hands-on instructional labs for the School of Information Technology by maintaining networks and computers. Responsibilities include installation, rack configuration, imaging hard drives, network wiring, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and configure instructional lab networks and computers (imaging, wiring, upgrades, troubleshooting)
- Assist School of Computing and Informatics instructors with lab preparations
- Manage inventory of hardware (computers, peripherals, networking equipment, cabling) and software (OS, drivers, licensing)
- Provide open lab hours for student assignments outside scheduled class times
- Maintain a logbook to track student lab usage and produce usage reports
- Work within tight time constraints for lab setups and maintenance
- Ensure lab organization, cleanliness, and removal of screen locks
- Assist faculty in developing new course materials
- Set up and lead laboratory sessions
- Provide lab supplies (paper, cleaning spray, paper towels, whiteboard markers)
- Perform independent research and tutor students
- Monitor department systems, ensure compliance with computer usage policies, and respond to issues
Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.
Requirements
- Hold or be working toward CompTIA A+ certification
