About the role

Maintains positive working relationships with plant, area and regional operations management and personnel. Primary responsibility is for area installations, migrations and performance of IT Infrastructure technology in the business offices, plant and operational environments. This responsibility will include the project management of area installations, migrations and problem resolution for complex chronic technical issues. This responsibility also includes the application of technical and system knowledge to provide installation and support of the field IT technology in the business offices and plant environments. The resources that this position may work with and coordinate for these efforts include technicians, enterprise telecom and system integration resources as well as vendor sales, support, management and technical resources. The technology involved in projects and problem solving may include Wireless, Network Wiring, LAN/WAN Networking, Surveillance Systems, Terminals, PC’s, Printers, Time Systems, Point of Sale interfaces (such as scale interfaces, pugmills, remote printing, card readers and kiosks), Power Supplies, cellular devices and other IT technology as needed to support the business.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive working relationships with plant, area and regional operations management and personnel.
  • Project manage area installations, migrations and problem resolution for complex chronic technical issues.
  • Apply technical and system knowledge to provide installation and support of the field IT technology in the business offices and plant environments.
  • Coordinate with technicians, enterprise telecom and system integration resources, vendor sales, support, management and technical resources.
  • Provide support for the placement, and maintenance of voice and data copper and fiber infrastructure requirements.
  • Document technology inventory and cabling layout at all assigned locations.
  • Serve as project manager of small to medium scale telecom related projects.
  • Assist with telephone and voicemail system installations and support.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors to ensure company standards, practices, and safety requirements are being met.
  • Perform advanced problem solving of issues by analyzing, identifying and diagnosing faults and symptoms using established processes and procedures.
  • Develop checklists for typical problems and recommend procedures and controls for problem prevention.
  • Comply with all standard practices, procedures and policies governing principal duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain technology spare parts/equipment inventory to provide remote technology support.
  • Support by traveling to remote sites with necessary support equipment in an assigned company owned vehicle.
  • Handle own projects and work remotely with minimal supervision while keeping manager informed of status.
  • Be on-call to support production systems.
  • Climb ladders and man lift.
  • Carry objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Work safely and follow safety guidelines in a hazardous environment.
  • Maintain MSHA Certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, telephony, electronics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years experience in computer support, telephony installations, infrastructure design and installation, carrier services, or networking environment.
  • Knowledge of Wireless, Network Wiring, LAN/WAN Networking, grounding and electrical principles, Terminals, PC’s, Printers, Time Systems, Video Camera Installations, Point of Sale interfaces (such as scale interfaces, pugmills, remote printing, card readers and kiosks), Power Supplies and other IT technology as needed to support the business.
  • Familiarity with project tracking and working with teams of technical resources to meet project objectives on schedule and budget.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with end-users, information services department, technology vendors and helpdesk team.
  • Self-directed and able to handle own projects and work remotely with minimal supervision while keeping manager informed of status.
  • Ability to be on-call to support production systems.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Problem solving of issues by analyzing, identifying and diagnosing faults and symptoms using established processes and procedures.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to plan, estimate, and coordinate IT projects, set priorities with daily support demands, and achieve quality results.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to keep end-users, management, and vendors informed of the status of their requests, upcoming projects and requirements, and general technology support information.
  • Must be self-directed and be able to handle own projects and work remotely with minimal supervision while keeping manager informed of status.
  • Requires the ability to be on-call to support production systems.
  • Ability to carry objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely and follow safety guidelines in a hazardous environment.
  • Maintain MSHA Certification.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
