IT Engineer, Staff - Top Secret Clearance Required (San Diego/Boulder)
We are seeking a highly motivated IT Engineer with strong experience in Microsoft infrastructure technologies to support, maintain, and enhance secure enterprise environments supporting government mission requirements. This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret (TS) security clearance and the ability to maintain that clearance throughout employment. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and capable of working with sensitive and classified information in accordance with government and customer security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Administration
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows services.
- Administer and support Active Directory services, including:
- User and group management
- Organizational Units (OUs)
- Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
- Security groups and permissions
- Domain Controllers
- Manage and maintain enterprise DNS and DHCP infrastructure.
- Support and administer file and print services, including permissions, quotas, and access controls.
- Perform server maintenance, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Endpoint & Systems Management
- Administer Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) for:
- Software deployment
- Operating system deployment
- Patch management
- Inventory management
- Endpoint compliance monitoring
- Assist with workstation and server imaging processes.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment and management solutions.
- Administer Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) for:
- Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain Group Policy configurations aligned with security standards.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation and security hardening initiatives.
- Support identity and access management processes.
- Participate in audits and compliance activities related to Microsoft infrastructure services.
- Experience supporting classified networks, secure facilities, and environments governed by NIST, RMF, CMMC, or other federal cybersecurity frameworks.
- Operations & Support
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, authentication, networking, and systems management issues.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Create and maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical diagrams.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and on-call support as required.
Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience implementing and supporting on-premises Microsoft infrastructure services.
- Experience troubleshooting server and enterprise infrastructure issues in production environments.
- 4+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR 7+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
- Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration.
- Experience managing Active Directory environments and Group Policy.
- Understanding of DNS, DHCP, and core networking concepts.
- Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM).
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Knowledge of NTFS permissions, file shares, and print management.
- Experience with server patching and maintenance processes.
- Experience working within environments subject to NIST, CMMC, FedRAMP, or other government security frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Experience supporting hybrid Microsoft environments.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Nutanix.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Intune.

Pay
$105,100.00 - $175,200.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
