IT Disaster Recovery Consultant

The IT Disaster Recovery Consultant will support the efforts of the First Horizon Business Resilience department, including crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery initiatives. This position will be responsible for continuity and recovery plan administration, data reporting for leadership, and general crisis management support. The candidate must have analytical skills to interpret quantitative and qualitative information to achieve departmental objectives and produce effective solutions for continuous process improvement. This role should be able to work in a collaborative team setting and independently with limited supervision, and will perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and testing of IT disaster recovery plans for data center loss scenarios, including enterprise, colocation, and cloud.
- Produce testing, exercise, and after-action reports in appropriate language and style acceptable for presentation to senior and executive management as well as internal and external auditors.
- Build and foster relationships with business leaders and technology professionals.
- Interface with business and technology subject matter experts to review application, system, and business service recovery plans to identify areas of improvement and provide guidance to address issues identified.
- Develop metrics in support of the Business Resilience program, including reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
- Responsible for data management, analyzing data, identifying problems, and developing recommendations.
- Maintain robust resilience plans, which include contingency planning for loss of people, facilities, technology, and vendor dependencies.
- Assist in planning and execution of exercises relating to crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects with stakeholders from Corporate Security, Information Technology, Human Resources, and other departments.
- Facilitate timely identification, escalation, and resolution for all outstanding issues.
- Support the use and maintenance of departmental resources, including weather monitoring and automated notification applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2+ years of information technology disaster recovery experience preferred.
- General knowledge of data center infrastructure and operations, including redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery posture concepts required.
- General knowledge of change management practices and other risk mitigation measures required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Analytical skills to interpret quantitative and qualitative information required.
- Report writing skills required.
- Able to take direction, multi-task, and quickly adapt to shifting priorities.
- Exercise latitude in determining functional and technical objectives of an assignment.
- Banking or financial industry experience preferred.
- May be required to work weekends and/or extended hours.
- Requires rotating 24/7 on-call support.
Skills
- Industry certification, such as ABCP or CBCP, considered but not required.
- Technology certification, such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Technology Associate, considered but not required.
