IT Certification Bootcamp Instructor - CompTIA Network+

Remote work must be performed while residing in California, New Mexico, Florida or Massachusetts. CIAT has campus locations in San Diego, CA and Albuquerque, NM. This is a non-exempt, variable-hour position reporting to the VP of Education.

Responsibilities

• Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams, with flexibility for evenings and weekends based on the course schedule
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement, ensuring alignment with CIAT’s adult learner framework and certification readiness
• Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter in a synchronous online format
• Maintain current certifications in subjects taught through renewal and demonstrate thorough, accurate knowledge of the field
• Connect subject matter with related fields and stay current through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attendance at meetings, conferences, or workshops
• Design, update, and align course materials with college standards for adult learners, ensuring curriculum accuracy and relevance
• Select instructional materials aligned with course objectives and keep the curriculum up to date
• Review course material for accuracy and relevance, providing recommendations for improvements and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards
• Ensure the student database is fully updated and accurate regarding attendance and grade records
• Maintain compliance with accreditation, scheduled class hours, and CIAT policies and procedures
• Promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects and initiatives
• Adhere to CIAT’s business casual attire policy (neat, clean clothing without rips or holes; polo shirts are acceptable)
• Maintain FERPA compliance and handle student data securely in accordance with institutional policy
• Comply with all college policies, procedures, and regulations, including those related to academic integrity, student conduct, and instructional delivery
• Follow communication guidelines to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism

Requirements

• Appropriate certification in one or more of the following: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CISSP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator
• Minimum of one year of experience in a training setting, ideally delivering IT certification bootcamps
• Advanced subject matter expertise preferred
• Synchronous online teaching experience preferred
• Prior experience in curriculum development and instructional design for IT certification bootcamps
• Familiarity with CertMaster, TestOut, or similar training tools is preferred
• Effective presentation skills and a high level of flexibility, creativity, and dependability
• Good working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and learning technologies such as Canvas
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multitask effectively
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with a sense of urgency while engaging with colleagues across departments
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects the diversity of students' backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives
• Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and didactic approaches in higher education
• Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and interact with students, colleagues, and others

Schedule

• Variable-hour position with days and hours typically Monday through Friday, but weekend hours may be required
• Live bootcamp classes will be scheduled Monday through Friday or on Saturdays and Sundays for 8 hours per day (class times to be determined)

Pay

$38 - $42 USD per hour
