Alicat Scientific is seeking a mid-level IT Associate to provide reliable, onsite IT support and contribute to the stability, security, and continuous improvement of our IT infrastructure in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
About the role
The IT Associate supports end users, servers, and network systems, diagnosing issues, implementing solutions, and advancing IT initiatives with limited supervision.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary onsite IT support resource for Windows-based desktops, laptops, peripherals, and Microsoft 365 services
- Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware, operating system, application, server, and network connectivity issues
- Administer and support Windows Server infrastructure including Active Directory, file services, DNS, and DHCP
- Support and troubleshoot wired and wireless networking, VPN connectivity, and remote access solutions
- Perform system and device deployment, imaging, software installation, patching, and lifecycle management
- Manage and resolve IT support tickets with accurate and timely documentation
- Identify recurring issues and recommend or implement process, configuration, or infrastructure improvements
- Assist with server, network, and endpoint maintenance, upgrades, and IT projects
- Ensure adherence to IT policies, security standards, and change management procedures
- Collaborate with IT team members, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users
- Support production-floor and engineering systems as required in a manufacturing environment
- Participate in after-hours maintenance windows or on-call rotations as required
Requirements
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or 3–5 years of progressive IT support experience
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 administration and support
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments and Active Directory
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Experience using ticketing systems and maintaining technical documentation
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, onsite manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting IT systems in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with ERP or other business-critical applications
- Exposure to virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware
- Experience with endpoint management, patching, or cybersecurity controls
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, and system monitoring concepts
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA or Microsoft credentials
- Interest in career growth toward systems administration, infrastructure, or security roles

- Understands Alicat Scientific’s IT environment, systems, and support processes
- Independently resolves common end-user support requests
- Follows IT policies, security standards, and change management procedures
- Accurately documents support activities in the ticketing system
- Builds strong relationships with users and IT team members
- Successfully performs basic Active Directory tasks and device deployments
Success at 6 Months
- Independently handles moderate to complex support issues
- Confidently supports Windows Server, networking, and VPN connectivity
- Identifies recurring issues and recommends improvements
- Contributes effectively to IT projects and infrastructure initiatives
- Serves as a reliable escalation point when appropriate
- Maintains high-quality documentation with minimal supervision
Success at 12 Months
- Functions as a trusted IT professional with deep understanding of Alicat systems
- Resolves complex issues across endpoints, servers, and network infrastructure
- Takes ownership of defined systems, tools, or IT processes
- Proactively identifies and helps address risks and inefficiencies
- Mentors or supports less experienced IT team members
- Is positioned for growth into advanced systems or infrastructure roles
Pay
$24–26.50 an hour
