About the role

This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last three (3) years. As an Advanced Data Analyst, analytical thinking, advanced level SQL skills, knowledge of working data process flows, and problem solving are the most critical skills required of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data analysis and data reconstruction efforts.
  • Develop and maintain documentation.
  • Provide technical support and administration for data systems.
  • Examine data structures, including Data Warehouse/BI Query, and utilize information obtained.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and propose solutions.
  • Assist with diverse data analysis activities for student loan data, data feeds, financial reporting, and other areas at the Office of Higher Education as needed.
  • Help OHE with technical issues surrounding ad hoc data requests.
  • Create and maintain documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience performing IT data analysis or quality assurance for large scale, enterprise business initiatives.
  • Experience leading data analysis and data reconstruction efforts.
  • Experience with SQL, leading SQL development and code reviews.
  • Experience with data validation.
  • Experience providing technical support and administration for data systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
  • Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.

Qualifications

  • Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months.

Skills

  • Knowledge of dimensional data modeling and physical database design.
  • Experience with various reporting/analytical dash-boarding products.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing.
  • Experience with statistical/trend analysis, data visualization, mining, operational reporting, analytical reporting, ad-hoc queries, executive dashboards, and report distribution.
