ISSO Security Analyst

About the role

Cyber Focus AII seeks to connect experienced Security Analysts with the VA to support their RMF (Risk Management Framework) activities. This role involves coordinating RMF steps 0-6 ATO (Authorization to Operate) activities, risk identification, and mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Work with VA Information System Owners (ISO), ISSOs, and other stakeholders to manage RMF steps and ATO activities.
• Ensure the security posture of information systems is maintained throughout their lifecycle.
• Create and update security artifacts and FISMA documents, focusing on control implementation and POA&M.
• Lead client-facing meetings and present complex ATO topics to clients.
• Organize and manage large amounts of data with various expiration dates across multiple systems.
• Engage with varying levels of staff and leadership to deliver comprehensive security solutions.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to ensure informed decision-making.

Requirements

• Experience with RMF steps, security categorizations, and security compliance standards.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 security controls, RMF, and system authorizations.
• Experience with Continuous Authorization and Monitoring (CAM).
• Experience supporting ATOs for specialized devices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in information technology or 13+ years of experience in information technology.

Skills

• Strong understanding of VA authorization policies and processes.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed security documentation.
• Experience with system authorizations and security compliance standards.
• Ability to identify and mitigate risks in IT deployments.
• Expertise in Continuous Authorization and Monitoring (CAM).
