Irrigation Technician 1/C (Island Operations - Estates)

Responsibilities

• Understand the complete operation of a central irrigation system.
• Check to make sure the irrigation system(s) operate and function properly per schedule, and maintain records.
• Install, maintain, and repair irrigation controllers, valves, QCV’s, sprinkler heads, air relief valves, and other system components.
• Program the central irrigation system on a timed irrigation schedule.
• Inspect, diagnose, and make repairs to irrigation system.
• Install and repair irrigation control wiring and hydraulic tubing.
• Perform supplemental or hand irrigation as required.
• Level heads, valve boxes, QCV’s, drain boxes, etc. to grade.
• Report all problems to the Supervisor.
• Order and inventory parts and materials.
• Operate and maintain utility vehicles and powered equipment.
• Operate Backhoe and Trenchers as required.
• Comprehend irrigation blueprints.
• Design and modify irrigation systems.
• Understand the operations of pump stations and clay valves.
• Train and/or assist in training of employees.
• Perform work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees, and with proper care and protection of Company property.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in irrigation installation and repair.
• Ability to relate to people in a friendly and professional manner.
• Able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
• Able to create effective working relationships with employees.
• Must have valid Hawaii Driver’s License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.

Qualification/Requirements

• Physical Requirements: Regularly sit, talk, and hear; occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities including close vision, distant vision, and color vision; operate objects, tools, or controls.

Pay

$21.73/hour (non-exempt).
