Irrigation Tech

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Designs, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs many types and models of irrigation controllers, including electrical.
• Affords assistance to field personnel with diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation related problems.
• Utilizes a proactive approach to irrigation system management.
• Conducts site assessments, inspects equipment, manages inventory of supplies, and ensures adequate stock levels.
• Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots various sizes and types of control valves.
• Repairs irrigation mainlines ranging from 1" to 12" in size, utilizing industry-standard components and techniques.
• Trains personnel as needed.
• Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
• Maintains detailed records of maintenance activities and completed work orders.
• Communicates any and all issues with supervisors within the organization.
• Prepares necessary documents and reports.
• Affords assistance in creating a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safely in accordance with company safety procedures.
• Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practices to the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be capable of operating or using trenching and boring equipment, as well as a shovel, to prepare trenches.
• Must possess knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in the irrigation trade.
• Must have knowledge of PVC installation and techniques.
• Able to provide detailed irrigation site assessments.
• Able to perform basic math calculations.
• Able to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
