About the role

Join SPM Oil & Gas as an Iron Technician Level I and kickstart your career in one of the most dynamic industries. The Iron Technician I provides assembly and testing of various mechanical components. This entry-level role offers hands-on training and real-world experience, working side-by-side with senior technicians to learn the ins and outs of oil and gas operations. You will gain practical skills, industry knowledge, and mentorship from the best in the field. This will set the foundation for a strong, long-term career.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming iron start to finish: accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment, load equipment for delivery, complete all associate paperwork, perform quality check, and manage inventory (without supervision).
  • Understand customer requirements throughout the entire refurbishment of flow control products to produce high-quality products.
  • Clean, strip, and inspect all required flow control components.
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections.
  • Disassemble flow control products per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Provide proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area.
  • Exhibit and always advocate an exemplary safety culture.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate hand tools such as pneumatic tooling.
  • Sound mechanical aptitude.
  • Consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic.
  • Three to six months’ related experience and/or training in the oil and gas field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment.
  • Clean driving record:
    • No more than two moving violations within the last 12 months.
    • No more than three moving violations in the past three years.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Consistently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • Noise level: Moderate.

Pay

Pay will start at $21.90/hour and can be adjusted based on experience. Pay range: $21.90 - $29.30.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with opportunity for overtime as business demands. On-call (weekends) only as business demands.
