IQC Inspector 3

About the role

The primary function of this position is to perform dimensional and visual inspections of incoming product parts, assemblies, and products to ensure they meet specified criteria before release to manufacturing and finished goods. The IQC Inspector will also inspect first articles and engineer inspection requests, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed documentation review to ensure all required data and certifications are accurate and present for each lot of parts or assemblies.
• Conduct daily inspections of incoming parts, including various types such as electronic assemblies, PCBs, metal structures, components, optical precision parts, and plastic parts.
• Conduct visual inspections of purchased parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with specified cosmetic and/or feature details.
• Create inspection history files and upload them to the ERP system.
• Maintain traceability of component materials according to inspection status.
• Physically move materials to released areas and create non-conformance reports in SAP for parts that fail their incoming specifications.
• Communicate inspection results to engineers and work with them to improve inspection methods or clarify drawings.
• Perform a complete FAIR inspection of mechanical parts using various types of inspection tools and equipment.
• Perform any other projects or duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Operate standard metrology equipment (calipers, height gauges, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, etc.) for open-set up inspection.
• Operate and utilize optical comparators and vision systems (Smart Scope, Keyence, or Dynascope) to inspect parts.
• Interpret simple and complex mechanical drawings and understand GD&T concepts to inspect parts using the correct type of inspection tool or equipment.
• Must have a high school diploma, an AS in Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
• Must have 4-6 years of related experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.
• Must have working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
• Must be able to use or understand standard inspection tools, gauges, and optical comparators.

Skills and Experience
