About the role
The IPS/Vocational Specialist will work with a mental health team providing evidenced-based services and support to clients in their homes and community locations.
Responsibilities
- Effectively teaches vocational, recreational and/or social skills.
- Participates as part of a multidisciplinary team providing services for vocational rehabilitation.
- Completes assessments to help with recreational or social activities and/or job skills coaching and preparation.
- Provides guidance, adaptive skills teaching to secure and retain employment, and referral to resources.
- Conducts business with a manner of professionalism that is conducive to recovery from mental illness and overall wellness.
- Provides supportive services for clients and arranges for the provision of services from community resources based on the case plan.
- Interviews clients and completes assessments and other clinical documentation.
- Completes case logs on all client services and ensures that logs are entered into the electronic data management system of the program they are employed by.
- Performs regular case maintenance activities including documenting actions, making narrative entries, preparing necessary reports and/or social summaries, etc.
- Consults with facility personnel and administrative field personnel; collects and analyzes data to identify needs for the assigned special services program within the particular service area.
- Ascertains resources outside of Start when necessary to meet client’s specific needs.
- Maintains a clear driving record in order to be able to drive company vehicles to provide transportation to clients.
- Mets with employing agencies 6 or more times per week to establish rapport and job matching for clients.
- Tracks encounters and forms deadlines to practice high fidelity to the IPS model.
- Attends daily staff meetings and supervision.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in social services field (required)
- Master’s Degree (preferred)
- Minimum of one year of training or experience in vocational services, employment, or relevant social services (required)
- Be over 18 years of age
- Possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license or Louisiana State ID (required)
