iOS Mobile Engineer III
About the role
The Mobile Engineer III role is part of the SPX - Run The Business team which sits within our Technology division. This team supports the design and experience of the reservations, conversations, and reviews pages in Partner Central, helping partners manage bookings, communicate with travelers, and respond to feedback more efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain iOS applications and features, ensuring high performance, quality, and responsiveness to user needs.
- Implement and evolve clean, scalable architectures for iOS, including system design, API integration patterns, and data modeling aligned with Expedia Group standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (product, design, backend, data) to translate business and customer requirements into robust, user-centric mobile solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex defects and performance bottlenecks, improving reliability, observability, and maintainability across multiple iOS components or services.
- Apply familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes in mobile experiences.
- Contribute to shared mobile frameworks, libraries, and best practices to enable reuse and fungibility across multiple iOS apps, domains, and feature areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional experience developing and shipping iOS applications at scale, using Swift and/or Objective-C within modern mobile architectures.
- Proven ownership of multiple features or services within an iOS application or mobile domain, including responsibility for design, implementation, testing, and operational support.
- Demonstrated competence in system design for mobile (including low-level design), API consumption and contract definition, and data modeling for offline/online scenarios on iOS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience architecting and evolving complex iOS applications or modules that serve large user bases, with a track record of improving performance, reliability, and code quality.
- Background in designing and reviewing mobile system design (LLD), API design, and data models that support scalable, secure, and observable integrations with backend and third-party services.
- Strong focus on operational excellence, including metrics, logging, monitoring, experimentation, and data-driven decision making to guide mobile feature development and optimization.
- Safely integrates and operates AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes in native iOS experiences, such as personalized content, recommendations, or intelligent assistance features.
- Hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted development or testing tools for mobile engineering and integrating AI/ML capabilities into iOS products in partnership with platform or data science teams, with familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
Pay
The total cash range for this position in Austin is $146,000.00 to $204,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
