About The Role

The App Platform team at Whatnot is the backbone of our client infrastructure, responsible for creating a consistent and reliable foundation that supports all product development across iOS, Android, and web platforms. Unlike teams focused on specific features, our team pushes the boundaries of technology to ensure product teams can move quickly without compromising quality. Our responsibilities include managing app stability, maintaining the Whatnot Design System, localization, core components, and shared architecture that ensures our apps perform efficiently and consistently at scale. As an iOS Engineer on the App Platform team, your primary focus will be on building and maintaining the infrastructure and foundational components that feature teams depend on. This includes designing and optimizing core UI components, enhancing networking and data persistence layers, driving improvements in app stability and crash reduction, and collaborating closely with product teams to streamline development processes. This role offers high leverage, as your work will impact the entire application ecosystem rather than isolated features. We provide flexibility to work remotely or from one of our global office hubs. While remote work is supported, team members should be within commuting distance of our hubs in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles to facilitate in-person collaboration, planning, and problem-solving sessions.
