About the role
We are seeking a highly qualified Ion Transport Physicist for our Broomfield, CO or Brooklyn Park, MN location to apply their expertise to cutting-edge R&D efforts in the field of quantum computing.
Responsibilities
- Develop cutting-edge ion transport methods through numerical simulation and modeling.
- Create and maintain software tools to enable key features of ion transport waveform design.
- Provide technical input into ion trap top-metal geometry to support novel ion transport methods.
- Review scientific results from development efforts to identify areas for further investigation.
- Perform trade studies and technical analyses.
- Present scientific results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets to support execution of broader company objectives.
Requirements
- PhD completed prior to starting. Minimum of 5 years’ experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: ion transport, quantum computing, experimental control system development, quantum information, atomic physics, electronics design, ion trap design, or ion trap fabrication.
- Experience with numerical simulation of physical systems using Python or other related software tools.
- Experience with ion transport in surface ion traps.
- Experience with neutral atom transport.
- Experience with electronic signal generation, filtering, and/or signal processing.
- Experience with trapping of ions or neutral atoms.
- Experience with surface ion trap fabrication methods.
- Experience with software management and collaboration tools and techniques.
- Experience organizing and maintaining software projects or packages.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong publication record in their field of research.
Skills
- Experience with numerical simulation of electrostatic systems.
- Experience with ion transport in surface ion traps.
- Experience with neutral atom transport.
- Experience with electronic signal generation, filtering, and/or signal processing.
- Experience with trapping of ions or neutral atoms.
- Experience with surface ion trap fabrication methods.
- Experience with software management and collaboration tools and techniques.
- Experience organizing and maintaining software projects or packages.

- The pay range for this role is $148,000 – $185,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $148,000 – $185,000 annually.
Schedule
All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week, with approvals.
