Key Responsibilities
- Lead the competitive intelligence program covering large bank peers: financial performance, KPIs, strategy changes, pricing/portfolio dynamics, credit trends, capital and liquidity actions, and regulatory developments.
- Develop peer dashboards, scorecards, and quarterly competitor insights that inform leadership’s understanding of market positioning.
- Monitor earnings releases, conference presentations, and strategic announcements across peer institutions; provide timely analysis and implications.
- Track and synthesize sell-side research, investor commentary, and market sentiment to identify themes that are resonating with the Street—and those that are not.
- Build, maintain, and enhance a financial model to forecast how analysts are likely to interpret company performance trends.
- Conduct scenario analyses on rate paths, deposit pricing/betas, loan growth, credit normalization, hedging strategies, CECL impacts, and capital actions.
- Own consensus tracking, variance analysis, and reconciliation of sell-side assumptions vs. internal expectations.
- Produce valuation, attribution, and peer rerating analyses (e.g., P/E, P/TBV, ROTCE vs. COE, capital return implications).
- Play a central role in the earnings preparation process: Contribute to the earnings press release, slides, Q&A materials, talking points, and internal briefing documents.
- Identify key themes and potential Street reactions. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity across disclosures.
- Support investor and analyst meetings, conference participation, and non-deal roadshows.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Accounting, Corporate Communications, Legal, Treasury/ALM, and other business segments.
- Manage, coach, and develop a Senior Associate focused on competitive intelligence.
- Establish clear goals, review cycles, and professional development paths.
- Ensure high-quality processes, documentation, and analytical rigor across all work products.
- Support broader IR initiatives: investor targeting, perception studies, annual report elements, and IR program enhancements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for internal partners on investor expectations, competitive trends, and sector dynamics.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in: Equity research, Investment banking, Corporate finance, FP&A, Strategy, Treasury/ALM, Investor Relations.
- Demonstrated mastery of financial modeling, especially bank financials (NII/NIM, deposit betas, credit/CECL, capital ratios, liquidity, AOCI).
- Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex drivers into clear and concise insights.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism.
- Experience working under tight deadlines and in high-visibility situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and analytical tools (Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, Visible Alpha, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA and/or CFA designation.
- Deep understanding of large-bank financials, regulatory capital frameworks, liquidity management, and disclosure norms.
- Experience managing or developing junior talent.
- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to connect market dynamics to company positioning and investor expectations.
- Analytical rigor to build models and insights that are accurate, traceable, and decision-useful.
- Executive influence and presence to communicate with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- Ability to execute with urgency, precision, and composure under pressure.
- Strong leadership skills to develop talent and establish high analytical standards.
- A highly collaborative approach to work seamlessly across Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Communications, and business units.
