Investment Strategist

ImpactAssets Capital Partners is a SEC registered investment adviser owned by ImpactAssets Inc., a $5B nonprofit impact investing leader founded in 2010. Over the years, ImpactAssets has built an extensive impact investment platform, having invested in 1500+ private companies and impact funds addressing global challenges. Created in 2022, ImpactAssets Capital Partners brings this platform and customized investment services to institutional investors, offering strategy, sourcing, due diligence, and investment advice for public and private investments such as venture capital, private equity, and private debt.

About the role

The Investment Strategist leads client engagement for key clients throughout the relationship arc, from closing prospects to managing ongoing touchpoints. This client-facing role requires public and private market fluency to contextualize investment performance, translate market dynamics, and guide sophisticated clients toward greater activation of their impact investing goals. The position is full-time, remote (US-based with flexible time zones), and reports to the Managing Director, Investment Strategy. Travel 2-3 times per year is required for in-person meetings and offsites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for an assigned group of clients (family offices, foundations, and corporates), ensuring timely responses, clear next steps, and high service standards.
• Collaborate with the MD of Investment Strategy, DCIO, and broader Investments Team to design appropriate impact and investment strategies for Custom Portfolio clients.
• Work with Custom Portfolio clients to articulate portfolio goals, design impact investing strategies, coordinate implementation, and develop bespoke impact and investment reporting.
• Partner with clients to draft and finalize their Investment Policy Statement (IPS), translating goals, constraints, and impact priorities into clear investment guidelines.
• Build and lead the engagement plan operationalizing the IPS, including sequencing implementation milestones, reporting cadence, and touchpoints.
• Ensure investments proposed to clients align with their stated objectives and parameters in partnership with the MD of Investment Strategy and DCIO.
• Quarterback preparation for bespoke periodic meetings, ensuring professionalism and client service excellence.
• Lead client meetings, leveraging teammates for deep knowledge on specific investments, impact areas, or investment types.
• Maintain accurate CRM records (profiles, meeting notes, tasks, next actions) and support team-level reporting.
• Oversee custom reporting development, ensuring non-standard reporting meets quality standards and client expectations.
• Identify process and service improvements to enhance client onboarding, communications, and internal handoffs.
• Partner with the Business Development team during the final stages of the prospect journey, contributing to the closing process.
• Cultivate strategic relationships with key prospects and ensure seamless transitions from BD-led outreach.
• Refine the client engagement process, particularly the BD-to-Strategist handoff, to improve efficiency.
• Support BD in leading prospects through final due diligence stages, ensuring regular meetings, follow-ups, and responsive data room support.
• Support client onboarding from signed engagement through full activation (documentation, digital tools access, and portfolio/account setup).

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in impact investing, wealth management, investment management, portfolio management, or consulting.
• At least 4-5 years in a direct investment role (e.g., analyst, associate, portfolio manager, or underwriter) evaluating and/or managing private markets or impact investments.
• Demonstrated experience in portfolio construction, asset allocation, and manager/fund due diligence; ability to independently assess fund manager track records, investment theses, and risk/return profiles.
• Demonstrated success managing sophisticated stakeholder relationships, coordinating multi-party deliverables, and driving follow-through.
• MBA or similar advanced degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or related field preferred.
• CFA, CAIA, or equivalent investment credential a plus.

Skills

• Working knowledge across multiple asset classes (public markets, private equity, private credit, real assets) preferred.
• Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills, including comfort evaluating IRR, MOIC, cash flow projections, and other private markets performance metrics.
• Familiarity with impact measurement frameworks (e.g., IRIS+, SDGs) and ability to translate impact goals into measurable investment criteria.
• Exceptional attention to detail; reliably coordinates meetings, agendas, materials, and follow-ups across multiple client workstreams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; proficiency with cloud-based collaboration tools (Box, Asana) preferred.
• Flexibility and willingness to contribute in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize competing demands.

Pay

Compensation ranges from $160,000 to $215,000, highly dependent on experience and location.
