About the role
We are expanding our presence in the Americas and Europe and seeking a U.S.-based legal professional (preferably in Washington, D.C., New York, or Miami) to join our Legal team. This is not a traditional legal role. We are looking for someone with strong experience in international commercial and/or investment arbitration, litigation, or complex disputes who also enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, and working closely with law firms, companies, and key players in the dispute resolution ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate litigation and arbitration opportunities from both a legal and commercial perspective.
- Analyze the merits of potential investments, including legal strategy, evidence, damages, procedural risks, timelines, and expected returns.
- Build long-term relationships with leading law firms, corporate clients, arbitrators, and other relevant industry stakeholders.
- Originate new opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of Loopa’s portfolio.
- Represent Loopa at conferences, industry events, and meetings in the U.S. and internationally.
- Work closely with our investment and legal teams in Latin America and Europe.
Requirements
- Experience in commercial and/or investment arbitration, complex litigation, or dispute resolution.
- Background working at a leading law firm, arbitration boutique, or in-house legal team.
- Genuine interest in business development and building long-term professional relationships.
- Strategic thinker comfortable combining legal analysis with commercial judgment.
- Proactive, autonomous, and enjoys taking ownership of projects.
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable interacting with law firm partners, general counsel, and senior executives.
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial, dynamic, and international environment.
- Based in the United States.
- Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Portuguese, French, German, or Italian are highly valued.
- Willingness to travel across jurisdictions.
- A strong professional network within the international arbitration ecosystem.
