About the role

We're seeking an Associate in Investment Management Finance (IM Finance) to join our New Product Team. This role involves accounting, finance, and process transformation within the Finance division, which partners with business units globally to provide management, review, analysis, and advisory services for the Firm's financial and capital resources. The position resides in Investment Management Finance (IM Finance), supporting Morgan Stanley's Investment Management segment (MSIM), a leading global asset manager across public and private markets. The successful candidate will join the New Product Team, which supports MSIM's new business line and product launches, serving as the central point of contact within Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate support across Finance for new products, including signing off on new products.
  • Attend multiple weekly working group meetings, documenting updates, tracking status updates, and following up with questions.
  • Proactively and independently maintain a pipeline document with information from weekly working group meetings and other sources.
  • Independently maintain the team SharePoint site, upload documents, create summaries, maintain email distribution groups, and send out weekly updates.
  • Request cost centers as needed.
  • Host weekly meetings with Finance stakeholders, together with your manager.
  • Review legal agreements and summarize key terms for manager analysis and feedback.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests related to new products and associated processes.
  • Consult with peers, management, other areas of Finance & Accounting, and the business as needed.
  • Proactively seek to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide surge support for Controllership in IM Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; Finance or Accounting is preferred.
  • Desired: 3+ years of work experience.
  • Asset management or Financial Services industries experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues of all levels across the Firm.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines, handle pressure, and balance multiple tasks daily.
  • Committed, self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally on projects and new initiatives.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience working in accounting subledgers and within a network of connected financial systems is a plus.
  • Work toward CPA, CFA, or other certifications is a plus.

Pay

Salary range for the position: $60,000 - $90,000 per year. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award and participation in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may include a discretionary bonus component.
