Investment Banking Associate - Industrials
About the role
Citi is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join its Industrials coverage team. The role involves advising clients on mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets transactions, serving as a strategic advisor to corporate clients, and contributing to the growth of one of the world's most connected financial institutions.
Responsibilities
- Advise corporate clients on mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising strategies, acting as a trusted partner across the full transaction lifecycle.
- Execute M&A and capital markets transactions, applying deep financial expertise to support deal structuring, analysis, and execution.
- Develop and review detailed financial analyses, including valuation models, transaction assessments, and corporate structure evaluations.
- Guide and mentor junior analysts by providing structured feedback, managing information flow, and sharing relevant credit and exposure context to support their development.
- Build and develop client relationships by tracking business development opportunities and contributing to the growth of Citi's Industrials franchise.
- Monitor industry trends and gather market intelligence to support client advisory work and identify new business opportunities.
- Evaluate business decisions with a clear focus on risk, ensuring all activities align with regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in investment banking or a closely related financial advisory role.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate corporate transactions and structures, with hands-on experience supporting M&A execution and capital raising processes.
- Skilled in building and interpreting financial analyses, including valuation models and transaction-related financial assessments.
- A clear and confident communicator, with the ability to present complex financial concepts concisely in both written and verbal formats.
- Series 79 and Series 63 licenses, current or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Skills
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited institution (beneficial).
- Prior experience in client development or business development activities within a banking or financial services environment (beneficial).
- Familiarity with Industrials sector dynamics, including the ability to track and analyze industry trends to inform client advisory work (beneficial).
