About the role

A leading independent investment bank is seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Analyst 2 or Analyst 3 to join its Financial Sponsors Group in New York. This is an exceptional opportunity for a top-performing analyst looking to take on greater responsibility, gain significant client exposure, and work on some of the most sophisticated private equity-backed transactions in the market. The team advises leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies on a broad range of strategic transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, capital raises, and other complex corporate finance assignments. Analysts benefit from meaningful responsibility, direct senior banker interaction, and exposure to premier financial sponsor clients.

Responsibilities

  • Execute M&A, leveraged buyout, financing, and strategic advisory transactions for private equity clients and portfolio companies.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, including LBO, DCF, merger, accretion/dilution, and operating models.
  • Conduct financial analysis, valuation work, and industry research to support live transactions and business development initiatives.
  • Prepare client presentations, pitch materials, marketing documents, and transaction-related analyses.
  • Participate in due diligence processes and coordinate with clients, senior bankers, legal counsel, and other advisors.
  • Monitor market trends, transaction activity, and investment themes within the private equity landscape.
  • Work closely with associates, vice presidents, and managing directors on a lean deal team structure.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of investment banking experience, ideally from a M&A, Financial Sponsors, Leveraged Finance, Industry Coverage, or related product group.
  • Recently promoted Analyst 2 or Analyst 3 required.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex M&A and capital markets transactions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.
