About the role
The State of Nevada seeks a skilled professional with a background in criminal defense, prosecution, or law enforcement. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in criminal law, investigative principles, and evidence collection methods, as well as courtroom procedures. Prior experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing case files, evidence, transcripts, and other case-related materials.
- Aiding attorneys in developing defense strategies and conducting interviews.
- Assessing crime scenes, disputed property, and other relevant locations.
- Pursuing leads, locating witnesses, relatives, and gathering information and documents.
- Supporting attorneys in court proceedings, including testifying.
- Liaising with law enforcement agencies and prosecution teams.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum two (2) years of Law Enforcement/criminal investigative work experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and proficiency in computers, including word processing, case management systems, and investigative databases.
Qualifications
Proficiency in criminal law, investigative principles, and evidence collection methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies in witness statements and analyze reports to determine investigative leads. Independent thinking and bilingual in English and Spanish.
Skills
Interviewing techniques, general law enforcement principles and practices, courtroom procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
