The Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Liz Murrill, is seeking applications for an Investigator/Special Agent (1-4). As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Investigator/Special Agent (1-4), depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected. Positions may be domiciled in various parishes throughout the state. Louisiana Bureau of Investigations
Provides follow-up investigation services for the LADOJ; responds to requests for investigative assistance from government agencies, including the apprehension of fugitives; and provides investigative services in cybercrimes, white collar crimes, and public corruption.
Medicaid Fraud Control Unit
The Louisiana Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is a state law enforcement agency, and its mission is to investigate and prosecute health care providers who have defrauded the Medicaid program. The MFCU also investigates and prosecutes allegations of abuse and neglect of residents in health care facilities. The MFCU utilizes a team-based approach to uncover abuse and neglect of residents and complex financial fraud committed by healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, physicians, dentists, nurses, and other Medicaid providers. The MFCU holds offenders accountable through criminal prosecution and civil litigation.
Job Duties And Other Information
- Review and evaluate allegations of abuse and/or neglect of residents in health care facilities and the circumstances surrounding the events to determine if further investigation is warranted;
- Assist other Assistant Attorney General's in case preparation and testify at grand jury and trial as needed;
- Request, review, and analyze complex medical documentation, the provisions of care delivered by health care providers in all health care settings.
- Evaluate the implementation of the standards of care;
- Prepare a variety of documents, reports, and spreadsheets related to assigned projects and cases;
- Serve as a resource for the MFCU staff by explaining medical terminology, medical procedures, expected standards of care, and differing responsibilities of health care providers.
- Engage and communicate directly with consumers, businesses, law enforcement agencies, and others in furtherance of investigative duties;
- Knowledge of criminal investigative principles, techniques, and methodologies; of state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to law enforcement activities; and of criminal and civil court proceedings and rules of evidence.
