About the role

This position is responsible for reconciling physical inventory against system-led counts on a daily basis. Key duties include discovering and investigating discrepancies, determining root causes, documenting incidents, rectifying issues, and reporting to supervisors to improve policies and procedures.

The role operates in a cold storage warehouse environment (near freezing temperatures) with exposure to heavy machinery, stacked racks, and weather elements (extreme heat, humidity, and cold). The company operates 24 hours a day, 6 days a week (Sunday morning through Friday evening), requiring flexibility to work any assigned shift based on seniority policy.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily inventory plans and counting processes.
  • Communicate inventory plans with Operations Supervisors to ensure smooth coordination between operations and inventory management.
  • Prepare and compile inventory-related documents, including van sheets, reconciliation worksheets (count sheets), and compilation sheets.
  • Direct warehouse workers to count inventory accurately using company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with warehouse workers to adjust inventory counts in real time by adding or removing items from counted areas.
  • Issue recounts for large discrepancies, missing items, expensive items, and common errors.
  • Partner with supervisors to report issues (e.g., quality concerns, missing labels) identified during counting.
  • Post batches following company guidelines.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies using tools such as video surveillance, trailer sheets, and Produce Pro reports.
  • Rectify discrepancies by issuing credits, billing customers, adjusting sales, or altering receiving quantities.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and leaders regarding problems or incomplete tasks.
  • Operate heavy powered equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and complete orders on schedule, including loading, packing, wrapping, labeling, shipping, storing, and preparing items for shipment.
  • Receive and process warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store).
  • Perform inventory controls while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Complete assigned tasks urgently while adhering to proper guidelines and standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of product storage temperatures and distinguish products by attributes such as lot number, brand, size, and quality.
  • Build pallets properly to ensure product quality and secure stacking.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by optimizing space, removing empty pallets, and disposing of waste (wrap, tape, straps) in appropriate bins.
  • Follow all safety and food safety procedures and policies; correct unsafe situations immediately.
  • Perform work assignments with limited supervision and focus on the task at hand.
  • Complete clerical tasks such as equipment inspection sheets, trailer sheets, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assist customers with their orders as needed.
  • Perform duties outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for warehousemen.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ year of warehouse worker experience.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and current operating software.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy powered equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, forklift); training provided if needed.
  • Proficiency in Produce Pro or similar sales and inventory systems; training provided if needed.
  • Flexible work schedule, with willingness to work up to 10 hours per day.
  • Understanding of general and food safety policies and procedures; training provided if needed.
  • Punctuality, dependability, and adherence to attendance policies.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment with a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and maneuver items up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing for up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Frequent stooping or squatting throughout the shift.
  • Must wear proper protective equipment, including steel-toe/composite-toe boots and safety vests.

Pay

$20.00 per hour + $1.50 job premium.
