About the Role
The Supply Supervisor oversees the Supply department, ensuring inventory, product, and equipment are received, stored, and inventoried in a timely, safe, and quality manner. This hands-on supervisor may occasionally perform these tasks and is responsible for developing, training, and holding team members accountable through clear expectations.
Responsibilities
- Supervisory and Management
- Supervises part of the Supply department and manages assigned employees.
- Motivates and inspires team members to exceed expectations through recognition programs.
- Ensures compliance with Newrest and client policies and procedures.
- Communicates effectively with all team members and holds them accountable.
- Operational
- Takes ownership of operations, ensuring meals are completed accurately, timely, and with high quality per datasheets and client requirements.
- Optimizes processes for efficiency and empowers team members to resolve operational issues.
- Escalates concerns and recommendations to management and proactively addresses potential production disruptions.
- Communicates confidently with client representatives and fills in as needed to maintain workflow.
- Quality and Safety
- Ensures all processes conform to customer and Newrest specifications.
- Complies with hygiene and manufacturing practices (e.g., HACCP, FIFO).
- Carries out cleaning, washing, and sanitation per the cleaning plan.
- Investigates and documents incidents/accidents and enforces safety processes and legal requirements.
- Human Resources
- Assists in interviewing and selecting candidates for the department.
- Approves time off requests, leaves of absence, and resolves timecard discrepancies.
- Assists in performing performance reviews and provides mentoring and corrective actions.
- Regular and timely attendance is expected.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in inflight catering, airport hub environments, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, or food industry managing non-exempt employees.
Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle conflict and de-escalate emotionally charged situations.
- Understanding of OSHA, HR, employment laws, and investigation procedures.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, operational processes, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Resilient self-starter with the ability to act independently and learn quickly.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent motivational and observational skills.
Physical Environment
The physical demands include regular sitting, walking, talking, and hearing, as well as frequent use of hands to handle or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment may experience drastic temperature fluctuations and noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud.
