Inventory Specialist

About the Role

Responsible for executing, monitoring, and training inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including both front end and pharmacy. Supports pharmacy inventory management activities, including receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns. Champions On-Shelf Availability and oversees all in-store inventory processes such as receiving, counting, pricing, and returns. Validates and ensures accuracy of planograms.

In designated stores, as required, opens and closes the store in the absence of store management, including all required systems start-ups, cash handling, cashier responsibilities, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate the proper use of reports and system applications impacting front end and pharmacy on-hand balances and pricing.
• Execute and maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse and vendor overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods, including prescription drugs.
• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience when serving as the leader on duty.
• Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders.
• Scan in all deliveries while the vendor is still in the store, including common carrier deliveries, and take appropriate action for undelivered or inaccurate orders.
• Under the supervision of the pharmacist-in-charge, verify all pharmacy shipments, complete postings of pharmacy warehouse orders, ABC prescription and OTC orders, flu and dropship orders, and report any shortages or damaged product.
• Complete On-Shelf Availability (OSA) end-to-end process, including disposals, call-ins, vendor returns, and scan outs for all subscribed departments, including pharmacy.
• Under the supervision of the pharmacist-in-charge, complete pharmacy inventory activities such as recalls, vendor returns, non-controlled and damaged salvage returns, and facilitate excess inventory returns or interstore transfers.
• Execute all pricing activities, including price changes, markdowns, and regulatory pricing tasks.
• Support front end and pharmacy ordering, monitor pharmacy manual orders, maintain consigned inventory, and ensure designated pull & quarantine items are updated and stored properly.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts for all departments, including stockroom and overstock locations, and ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
• Assist in maintaining inventory records, organizing files, and retaining all necessary documentation for inventory activities.
• Prepare for and support physical inventory day activities, including auditing third-party teams.
• Keep counters and shelves clean and well-merchandised.
• Assist and coach store team on package delivery activities, including scanning packages, completing daily inventory functions, and package returns.
• In designated stores, when serving as the leader on duty, register all related sales on the point-of-sale system, handle scanning errors, price verifications, returns, refunds, cash drops, and provide change as requested.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.

Qualifications

• Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Must have a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage execution.
• Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending strategies to resolve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.

Pay

Salary Range: $17 - $20 / Hourly
